Kat H: My illustrations draw from my life long love affair with the weird. Usually finished pieces depict funky, atypical, slightly kinky creatures doing slightly kinky things in a bizarre wet dream world where the deviant rule and t¬he normal drool. My artwork allows me to investigate the line between captivating and revolting. I experiment with my characters and the viewer’s interaction with them by using elements that draw the viewer into the image; such as intricate, detailed line work and saturated vivid colors, meshing them with hints of wickedness and impiety. I am interested in this push and pull aspect of a relationship and through my artwork I am able to explore how it affects both sides of the bond. My most recent work is inspired by etchings from the1500’s, which illustrate the legendary mutants, monsters, and freaks from early society. I work primarily in pen and ink on Mylar and have an unbridled fetish for line work, potbellies and printmaking.
